Police authorities arrested an Illinois man following an alleged racially motivated attack that severely injured an African American.

Police authorities arrested a 70-year-old man, identified as John Shadbar, after he shot and severely injured his 40-year-old African American neighbor, Melissa Robertson. The shooting incident happened on Monday, May 7, around 5:37 in the evening nearĀ 114th Place and Rickerman Road.
In a published article in TRUE CRIME DAILY, witnesses said that Shadbar was seen on his property with a rifle and shot Robertson. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the chest that “exited her back,” as well as one to her hand. Police authorities said that Robertson is in a critical condition and went into surgery.
Racially Motivated Attack Suspect Is Facing Charges
John Shadbar was arrested and is facing different charges of first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. Investigators obtained CCTV recordings near the area, and more charges will likely be filed. Authorities considered this also as a “racially motivated attack.”
Furthermore, it was found during the investigation that Shadbar made statements against Robertson looking for two African American boys. The suspect is now under the custody of Will County Adult Detention Facility without bond.
