$4,000 Data Breach Settlement from Gifted Healthcare
A lawsuit was filed against Gifted Healthcare in 2021 after it failed to protect its data. The company agreed to a data breach settlement, but they denied any wrongdoing. It compromised the personal information of thousands of nurses.
In a published article in The US Sun, the lawsuit finally reached the final stages of the preliminary settlement agreement between the class members and the company. Additionally, it is already subject for court approval. Those who were affected will receive up to $4,000.
How do you file a claim in the data breach settlement?
After the settlement agreement, the lawsuit’s class members are advised to file a claim form to receive the settlement money. If they are eligible, they can accept any of the three benefits:
- First, is a reimbursement of up to $400 for usual expenses related to a breach such as banking fees.
- Second, they can also claim up to $4,000 from the settlement fund for larger and less usual expenses as a result of identity theft or fraud.
- Third, all class members are also eligible for three years of credit monitoring and identity theft protection.
Furthermore, all those who wish to make a claim must submit proof of losses resulting from the breach such as receipts, invoices, credit reports, and account statements. Meanwhile, eligible class members who do not want to have credit monitoring or expense reimbursement can instead receive a cash payment of $50.
